Everything went according to plan in Caguas where third rankedCriollos (14-11) beat 6th ranked Santeros (7-16) 87-80 on Friday. Caguas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Christian Lopez (183-1995) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Bryn Forbes (190-1993, college: Michigan St.) produced 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and international center Arnaldo Toro (203-1997, college: St.John's) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Criollos have a solid three-game winning streak. Caguas maintains third position with 14-11 record having eight points less than leader Quebradillas. Loser Santeros keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost.
